| ** Introduction
of Hongkong Shopping Street ˇˇChief of Project: Yu Xiaoyin ˇˇHongkong Shopping Street is the first underground business pedestrian street, located in southeast of People Square. Its east entrance is connected with Metro Line 1 (People Square Station). And it is contiguous with underground garage of People Square (Mall). In the middle of Hongkong Shopping Street, there's sinking square, which is one of its main entrances. The sinking square also can supply fresh air for the whole street. Two outdoor escalators and an 8-meter-wide evacuation stairway are the most convenient traffic facilities between ground and underground space, which attract and evacuate the crowd to street effectively. ˇˇThe sinking square is a landscape of Hongkong Shopping Street, under which lay a big flower pot(4 x 4 m2) and sleeve. By design of water and drainage , the excessive ground water is pumped away. The tree in the pot evergreen and crown of tree is lush. The tree makes the street lively. The fence of the square above the ground is made of polished granite balls and columns. With the use of stainless balustrade shows a combination decoration of Chinese and Western, which also echoes Shanghai museum's Chinese architectural style. The square has a positive function to the urban environment. ˇˇThe square's dead weight is much lighter than the main structure, and there's no bracing on the top of the wall. The structural engineers do some special treatments resisting buoyancy and overturning. However, the requests of architecture are satisfied. |
